It’s FRIIIIIDAY!
I’m so ready for my weekend…Tonight I’m going to the BSO to hear Leslie Odom Jr. (VERY EXCITED) and then tomorrow I’m headed home to PA to spend some time with family and celebrate my Dad’s birthday. Today I’m sharing part 1 of my 10 cards 1 kit using the Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit – I really loved the papers and the stamps in this kit but had a hard time getting the flower stamp to look right with the papers so…I’ve split my videos into 5 cards featuring that lovely stamp bouquet and then 5 featuring the pattern paper (coming tomorrow). I’ve used the sentiments for both. Here are the first 5 cards:
Here are your close-ups:
For this card, I’ve pulled out my watercolors (can’t get enough of them lately) and just did some simple two-tone layers of color to give some shading and dimension. I then finished up with a little black paint splatter.
These sentiments…oh my, I’ll be using this stamp set over and over again. Finished up with my usual strip of cardstock/pattern paper.
I always love the look of a white flower and it’s really not that difficult to do. Here I’ve used my copics and let that white background work for me by just adding in a few gray shadows for dimension.
I love how you can mix and match all these sentiments – pulled in some yellow cardstock for an extra pop on the inside.
Copics: YG25, YG45, Y35, N0
No-line coloring is so much work but always so worth it in the end. I’ve used my prismacolors here and layered from light to dark then back down again to get a blended look to the petals, I think the leaves are actually my favorite part of this though. I’ve stamped my sentiment directly on top of coloring – if you do this make sure to let your ink dry completely, the wax of the pencil will resist it a bit.
Pulling in a little black strip here to help balance the bold black sentiment from the front.
Prismacolors: 989, 913, 109, 934, 944, 1009, 922, 923, 195, 916
I’ve again used my prismacolors here – this time stamping the image on some colored card stock for a more muted look. I then trimmed all the flowers and leaves out and placed them on top of the white base, popping up a few here and there for dimension. I also stacked that thanks die cut a few times to give it some heft and placed that down on top.
Finished up with a strip of green here. I’m not sure I like this card base but I’d changed it 3 times by this point so I decided to leave it. It does match the yellow centers of the flowers but I may end up changing it again before I send it.
Prismacolors: 989, 912, 994, 1008, 1009, 928, 929, 1002, 140, 916
I’m going back to the copics for this last one – this bouquet was just so much fun to color.
I used one of my copics to color a scrap of Neenah and then trimmed my strip out of that – this is a great trick when you want something to match perfectly, you can do it with anything, markers, inks, watercolors, etc.
Copics: YG25, YG45, Y35, YR04, YR07, R17, R20, R43, R35
Thanks for stopping by today, hope you enjoyed the cards. Make sure you check back in tomorrow to see what I made using the pattern papers! xoxo, Sarah
