10 Cards | 1 Kit – SSS December Card Kit (Part 1 of 2)

Hello There,

My SSS kit finally arrived last week! I was stalking my mailman again 🙂 So happy to have this in my hands and get crafting. As we’re all so busy this time of year, I’m going jump right in…here is what I came up with for the first 5 cards:

Here are your close-ups:

1

This little fawn is so cute – I love his little white spots and tail! Every time I get some of these watercolor papers I think to myself I need to buy a pack – maybe this time I will!

1 inside

That red was tough to match – it’s such a nice vintag-y hue.

1 close2

Oh my, I love that marvy snow pen! Don’t you just want to reach out and touch that puffy goodness?

2 inside

I’m loving this Christmas cheer sentiment – I can already tell it’s going to make it into the Christmas rotation every year.

2 close3

Chibi cards are so much fun to make – I hope my explanation was clear. They might look a little intimidating but once you’ve made one or two it gets much easier.

3 inside

I’m loving that red washi tape this year – I think it’s made it into almost every video!

3 close4

That candy cane die is really cute – you could trim it down to just a single candy cane too if you wanted.

4 inside

I felt like this needed a little more black to balance all the red on the front, so I sprinkled around some snowflakes.

4 close5

I’m finishing up today with Santa. This is such a cute image and was really fun to color. I, of course, added some marvy snow pen to give his hat a little fluff.

5 inside

And the inside needed a little green so I added the tree along with the sentiment.

Prismacolors: 927, 1013, 997, 923, 925, 911, 935

Thanks for stopping by to check out my cards – Hope I was able to give you some inspiration for this kit. I’ll be back with part 2 tomorrow. xoxo, Sarah

12 Days of Christmas | Simon Says Stamp (Part 2 of 2) + Hidden Giveaway Winner!

Whew…just made it! (technically it’s still December for another hour)

Happy New Year!!

So sorry for the delay in posting this, I’ve had it edited for a week but had to do the voiceover and although I took everything home with me to Pennsylvania I was swamped with family stuff and just didn’t get to it. So without further ado – here are the last 5 Cards from the Simon Says Stamp December 2017 Card Kit:

And here are the stills:

1 front

This paper was so pretty, I just wanted to let it shine.

1 close

Love those gum drop stickers and they accented the paper perfectly.

2 front

I think if I had to do it again, I would have rounded the corners on the Santa card to make it more similar to a journaling card.

2 close

That Marvy pen is so much fun…really I could put it on everything!

3 front

I’m happy how this turned out, but after I finished I thought it would be really fun to to “wrap” the front of the card across the middle as well as if it was a present and put the tag in the middle, but I didn’t want to  put another hole in the top so I left it as it was. Idea for next year though…

3 close

I really love the combination of the Santa tag, the flag and the bow.

4 front

This tri-square die is so versatile. I’ve used it on lots of card and it’s a really great go-to when I’m running out of ideas. I’m always pleased with how the designs turn out though, must be something about that rule of thirds.

4 close

Those gingerbread men are so cute!

5 front

It’s been a while since I’ve done a patterned background like this, it changes it up a bit to leave the sentiment half on/half off the pattern.

5 close

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you’ve had a Merry Christmas and wish you a very Happy New Year! I’ve really enjoyed sharing all my card ideas with you for the past several months and am looking forward to sharing more in the next year.

12 Days of Christmas | Art Impressions -Dairy Christmas

Whew…my day at work was so busy today, it was nice to unwind a bit doing this watercolor. Something about watercoloring in tiny spaces relaxes me, lol.

I found this Dairy Christmas set a while ago and had to purchase it, my Aunt loves chickens so this will be her card this year. I wasn’t sure what to do with it since the stamp I wanted to use is a bit smaller than what I usually watercolor, so first I thought I’d just make a mini card, but then I thought why not go bigger? I tend to always want to add things, but I try to stretch myself and leave white space every once and a while and this time I think it worked out.

You can check out the process video here:

And her are some still shots:

Extra long. Extra cute.

I stamped this again after I was done watercoloring and it was slightly off, not off enough to ruin it, but enough to drive me crazy. I should have known better, the watercolor warped the page, so even though I left the stamp on my misti, it just didn’t work. Don’t do what I did.

Thanks for stopping by today. xoxo, Sarah

12 Days of Christmas | Lawn Fawn Tiny Gift Box – Advent Calendar

Hello Hello…Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!

I’m running late today, I was lazy last night and waited until today to film the video and now I’m impatiently waiting for YouTube to upload! So I’ve been wanting to dig into this die from the moment I got it, but I’m glad I was a bit delayed because when I got my SSS kit this month and saw the 25 days sheet of paper from Doodlebug I instantly knew I would use it for this advent calendar. I’m super happy with the result – You can check out the video here:

Here are some stills:

So cute – You can fill each box with a piece of candy, or a clue of where your little one can find a surprise hidden somewhere in the house! It would be really fun to combine with an elf on the shelf.

Those squares are a perfect fit – it’s like they were made for each other.

That bow was a little tricky because it is so tiny, but was so worth it!

12 Days of Christmas | Papertrey Ink Gift Card Cozy

As I type this…lots of tiny snowflakes are landing outside my window, lights are in the trees along the street and it indeed feels very much like Christmas in Baltimore.

On to the craftiness…I’m working with some dies from Papertrey Ink, stamps from Ellen Hutson and a paper kit from Echo Park to create some really cute gift card cosies. I’m super happy with how they turned out and you can check out the video here:

Here are the stills:

I thought these might make a good item to sell as a set at some craft fairs. What do you guys think?

This is totally my favorite but in all honesty it’s hard to beat a polk-a-dot if I’m judging!

The great thing about using these type of paper packs is that they are double-sided and add that extra little pop when opened.

I can’t get over that North Pole stamp, I want to put it on every tag I make this year.

12 Days of Christmas | Art Impressions Magical Christmas Tryfold Card

Hi-ya!

We’re almost through the week but this close to Christmas I’m not wishing the days to go by too fast – there’s still so much left to do! Hope you’re further ahead than I am.

Today I’m sharing a tryfold card I made using Art Impressions Magical Christmas stamp and die set. It was fun to work with and really easy to figure out as long as you follow the instructions. I should know because I ended up making the base card 3 times, not because it was difficult, but because I kept getting red paint everywhere, I swear every time I got ready to stamp the last panel, red would show up somewhere on the card and for the life of me I still don’t know where it came from! MAJOR FRUSTRATION. In the end I vanquished the runaway paint and I’m happy with the final result of the card, but I’ll give it a minute before my next go round with this particular set.

You can check out the process here:

Here are some stills of the finished card:

1

Such a cute stamp set, I followed most of the colors that they showed on the packaging, they have some great illustration examples.

2

3

It does feel like magic when you open that door to reveal Santa in the chimney. I also colored the inside of the door – I thought it looked too white when it was opened, but I’m sure I was just overthinking it.

4

5

I didn’t realize those balls at the top were ornaments until it was too late – next time I think I’ll color them in gold to match the star and break up the dark colors around the mantle. (I thought they were those cast-iron stocking holders that sit on the mantle and kept wondering where the 3rd one was – lol.)

67

Bristol card stock definitely has a right and wrong side and because of the way this is scored, the inside panel ends up on the wrong side of the paper, so I trimmed out a small panel and added that to the inside so the paint would be nice and smooth. I had some trouble with red again around the candles and the top of Santa’s hat so my paper is a little raw, but it could be worse and well…not every card can turn out perfect right?

I really would encourage you to try out one of these tryfold sets if you’re interested in it. I’m definitely going back for more.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the card. xoxo, Sarah
