Hi-ya!
We’re almost through the week but this close to Christmas I’m not wishing the days to go by too fast – there’s still so much left to do! Hope you’re further ahead than I am.
Today I’m sharing a tryfold card I made using Art Impressions Magical Christmas stamp and die set. It was fun to work with and really easy to figure out as long as you follow the instructions. I should know because I ended up making the base card 3 times, not because it was difficult, but because I kept getting red paint everywhere, I swear every time I got ready to stamp the last panel, red would show up somewhere on the card and for the life of me I still don’t know where it came from! MAJOR FRUSTRATION. In the end I vanquished the runaway paint and I’m happy with the final result of the card, but I’ll give it a minute before my next go round with this particular set.
You can check out the process here:
Here are some stills of the finished card:
Such a cute stamp set, I followed most of the colors that they showed on the packaging, they have some great illustration examples.
It does feel like magic when you open that door to reveal Santa in the chimney. I also colored the inside of the door – I thought it looked too white when it was opened, but I’m sure I was just overthinking it.
I didn’t realize those balls at the top were ornaments until it was too late – next time I think I’ll color them in gold to match the star and break up the dark colors around the mantle. (I thought they were those cast-iron stocking holders that sit on the mantle and kept wondering where the 3rd one was – lol.)
Bristol card stock definitely has a right and wrong side and because of the way this is scored, the inside panel ends up on the wrong side of the paper, so I trimmed out a small panel and added that to the inside so the paint would be nice and smooth. I had some trouble with red again around the candles and the top of Santa’s hat so my paper is a little raw, but it could be worse and well…not every card can turn out perfect right?
I really would encourage you to try out one of these tryfold sets if you’re interested in it. I’m definitely going back for more.
Thanks for stopping by to check out the card. xoxo, Sarah
