13 Days of Halloween – Day 3 | Shaker Windows

Hello There,

I’ve got my favorite, The Nightmare Before Christmas, playing in the background and just settled in with a cup of hot cocoa to get down to typing and uploading today’s video. It’s freezing in Baltimore and I’m afraid we may have skipped Fall altogether this year! I guess that means I should create more fall cards to make up for it 🙂

I got the idea for these shakers from Rachel Tallman – she is amazing, I always get inspiration from her beautiful work. She did some of these with her spring blitz this year and I’ve been wanting to give it a try since then.

Here is what I came up with:

And here are some stills:

This one is my favorite of the bunch, mostly because of that ribbon – which took forever! I’m so disappointed that I lost the video of how I attached it but I will be making more of these and will add that in next time.

1 witch1 side

Here’s a side view so you can really see the texture and dimension that ruffled ribbon created.

Love this guy! His expression is so great – I would love to have him as a trick or treater so I surrounded him with candy.

2 close3

My favorite part of this is the spider web – I used some scor tape around the edges on the back (before I put on the ribbon), and then just wrapped the string around the corners a few times. Then I glued all over the back and placed that down on some Neenah paper and trimmed around the edge again. Then I slid the ribbon behind the string on the front and stuck it down.

All in all, I’m really pleased with how they came out. I used mostly items from the Halloween Kit I put together but will add links to the additional items used below. As always, thanks for stopping by. xoxo, Sarah

13 Days of Halloween – Day 2 | Giveaway winner!! & 5 Cards, 1 Kit

Happy Friday! A big congratulations to Lynn Griffin you are the winner of my giveaway – Please email me your address and I’ll get your goodies in the mail!

For today’s Halloween video I used the goodies from my Halloween card kit to create 5 spooky cute greetings cards. You can check out the video here:

Here are some still shots of the finished cards:

I’m in love with these web doilies! Wanted to put one on every card, but I refrained. I used a mini wobbler (trimmed down in half) to pop up a spider sticker and added some cotton thread for extra webbing.

1 inside

For the inside, I added the matching smaller spider and drew a web line with a marker. I used Simon Says Stamp’s new Frightful Fun stamps for all the inside sentiments and I stamped this one with Lawn Fawn Fake Tan ink.

1 close2

Such a lovely bunch of trick or treaters 🙂 I used some Twisted Citron Distress Oxide to color the book page fringe and create a little grass for them to stand.

2 inside

Since the front was so busy, I left the inside simple.

2 close3

Those white pumpkins – something about the pink eyes is just adorably creepy. I popped this guy up with some foam squares and his spooky sentiment was the perfect finish to that embossed phrase.

This sentiment was stamped with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink and I finished off the inside with a sticker that matches the florals from the outside.

3 inside4

I really love this card, it’s soft and very lullaby-ish (if that even makes sense, lol). I added some American Crafts gold paint to the book page and it really gives this beautiful warm sheen to it. Then I used my fingers to rough up the edges a bit.

4 inside

I love this inside too – the mix of white, yellow and orange makes me think of candy corn every time I look at it.

4 close5

I couldn’t resist using another one of those webs. The saying on the darker tombstone is really fun – this would make a great party invite.

5 inside

With that thought in mind, I finished this off with that frightful fun sentiment and a little bat sticker.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope I was able to give you some spooky inspiration. xoxo, Sarah

As of right now I still have 4 kits available for purchase – if you’re interested grab one before they’re gone! link below.

13 Days of Halloween – Day 1 | Stamping Bella’s Oddball Frankenstein

Hello everyone,

I’m here today with my first Halloween card of the season. I saw these new oddball stamps from Stamping Bella and while I wanted each and every one, I narrowed it down to this guy. Isn’t he just delightfully grumpy?

I always love a reason to pull out my watercolors and Stamping Bella images are some of my favorites to use them with. I’ve left in most of the coloring process – if you’re just interested in putting the final card together you can skip to the 3-minute mark.

Here is the full video:

And here are still shots of the finished card:

Wasn’t sure what I would do with this sheet of glittery webbing when I picked it up but it was irresistible and I love how it looks as a background. The thick strands were easy to add glue to.

I decided to keep the inside simple and just stamped a repeat of the monster using some Lawn Fawn Grape Jelly Ink.

I stamped this image on Fabriano 140# Hot Press paper with Versa Fine Onyx Black Ink and heat set that with some Simon Says Stamp Fine Detail Clear embossing powder.

As always, thanks for stopping by. xoxo, Sarah

Halloween Card Kit Giveaway!!

Hello everyone!

I can’t help but continue to feel a bit behind and I’d hoped to have my next 10c1k video done before starting on Halloween but it’s so quickly approaching that I dare not wait any longer to get started this year. I’ll still be doing my 13 days of Halloween series, but they won’t all be all in a row as I’m also wanting to catch up on the SSS kits and to add to the ever growing pile – I ordered the Stamptember kit as well. Thanks for your patience as I’m getting back into the swing of things. For those of you who don’t follow me on instagram, I hurt my wrist last week which put me even further behind and it’s still a bit sore, but I’ve taken off the splint and fingers crossed won’t need to wear it any longer…we’ll see how things go.

Below is a look at what’s in the kit – make sure you leave a comment on YouTube under the video to enter to win. I’ve also created 4 additional kits which can be purchased for $25 on my eBay shop.

Here are a few stills of the contents:

These buttons are also for sale individually on my eBay shop for $4.50 each and shipping is included to anywhere in the US.

As always thanks for stopping by and lots of luck to you in the giveaway! xoxo, Sarah

13 Days of Halloween – Bonus Day

Happy Halloween!

I’ve got one last Halloween video to share with you today. I picked up this Tim Holtz Day of the Dead stamp set and couldn’t wait to use it, so of course it ended up being the last card of the season. They’re super creepy but that woman is also pretty in a way too. You can check out the video here:

And here are the close ups:

1 Front

This ended up being one of my favorites of the series. I love the simple black and orange and although I don’t usual do much mixed media type of work I LOVE the stamping over the dictionary page. (That’s about a mixed media as I get :))

1 close up

I again used paper from that pebbles 6×6 pad – same I’ve been using the whole series to line the envelopes.

2 Front

I liked the little play of the coordinating purple in the script washi and every card is better with some of those crystal fusion sequins on it!

2 Card and envelope

And who could resist this charmer offering them a rose…

Thanks for checking out my cards – hope you’ve had a great Halloween season!

xoxo, Sarah
