10 Cards | 1 Kit – SSS August Card Kit (Part 2 of 2)

Hi There,

I’m back with part 2 of my 10 Cards, 1 Kit using the Simon Says Stamp August 2018 card kit. These florals are absolutely gorgeous and I had so much fun coloring all the images. Here are the rest of the cards I created:

Here are close-ups of the finished cards:

6

This peony image is so beautiful and that background stamp was exactly what I needed to finish off the shabby chic look for this card.

6 inside

I love the look of a watermarked stamp, I really need to remember to do that more often.

Ink: Simon Says Stamp Intense Black

Prismacolors: 912, 913, 989, 988, 1060, 1061, 1013, 928

7

So sweet and simple, this mason jar is lovely. I just let the image shine here on its own and added the twine bow at the top to finish off a pretty country look.

7 inside

The top portion of this flower pot would look great all along the border of a card.

Ink: Simon Says Stamp Barely Beige

Prismacolors: 122, 922, 1013, 1009, 995, 994, 912, 913, 989, 988, 992, 1086, 289, 1014, 122, 923

This picket fence stamp is great to add to your scene building stash. Though it does take quite a bit of work to cut it out if you want as much detail as I do.

8 inside

I kept the inside simple since the outside was so detailed a grabbed a red ink to match that poppy flower.

Ink: Memento Black Tuxedo

Copics: R17, YR07, RV66, RV63, YG45, YG25, E15, E13, E18, YR02, YR04

9

These watercolor cards ended up being my favorites of the bunch (along with the rainbow card from yesterday).Β  I really like this technique of laying down the watercolor and letting it do its thing.

9 inside

I run out of ideas for the inside of cards sometimes – I think this is the first time I’ve mixed the different sentiment colors and really like the way it came out.

9 close1010 inside10 close11

As you may have guessed, the copics were my favorite way to color the poppy flower. Here I placed that wreath around an opening so you could see the sentiment on the inside. This would also be a great way to make a shaker card.

11 inside

I finished off the inside sentiment using some cardstock to match that poppy color and placed them so you wouldn’t see them through the opening.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Copics: R17, YR07, YG45, YG25

So that will finish up the cards for this kit and whew, I’m feeling at least a little bit caught up now. I’ll be working on the September kit this week and get those videos up for you soon. Hopefully before the October kit arrives. I’m also putting together a Halloween kit – more on that soon, so stay tuned! xoxo, Sarah

10 Cards | 1 Kit – SSS August Card Kit (Part 1 of 2)

Helloooooo!

I’m so happy to be back and sharing my SSS August 10 Cards, 1 Kit video…better late than never right ?!? I absolutely loved this stamp set. The flowers are gorgeous and it was full of so many different little sentiments to really make the cards your own. Here is the first half of what I came up with:

And here are some close-up photos of the finished cards:

1

That jar of flowers is just such a sweet image and really pops next to the black and white of the script paper and sentiments.

1 inside

For the inside, I stamped the jar image using Lawn Fawn Minty Fresh Ink. This is a nice light ink so it will be very easy to write over if necessary.

Stamping Ink for all Copic coloring: Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

Copics: RV63, RV66, R35, R43, YG45, YG25, BG10

2

Cutting out those detailed fences was time-consuming, but so worth it in the end.

2 inside

That poppy was my favorite flower out of all of them. I was so happy with the inside of this card, I considered trying to do the same partial coloring idea for the outside of a card (and still might!)

2 close

Copics: R17, YR07, RV66, RV63, YG45, YG25

3

I’m such a sucker for a rainbow – I literally love one on anything. This card makes me so happy πŸ™‚

3 inside

Every rainbow needs some gold at the end – this one has some gold washi.

3 close

Rainbows, hearts, and clouds – I’m dating myself here but I just keep thinking “Care Bear Stare” when I look at it.

4

This wreath is just a gorgeous stamp. I really wanted some single flowers and leaves to color and add all the way around the ring. Though I’m not sure I would have wanted to fussy cut all of them!

4 inside

I was thinking of maybe adding one more flower to the wreath so I fussy cut it out but it didn’t look quite right. Luckily I was able to add it to the inside panel.

Ink: Simon Says Stamp Barely Beige

Prismacolors: 1002, 923, 122, 912, 913, 989, 988

5

I was channeling some sort of flower shop with this card or maybe the inside of a potting shed. The variety of flowers in this set was amazing and I really enjoyed coloring these stamps.

5 inside

The contrast of that minty fresh and the tangy orange card stock is one of my favorite combinations.

As always thanks for stopping by to check out my cards…Part 2 coming soon! xoxo, Sarah

10 Cards | 1 Kit – SSS July Card Kit (Part 3 of 3)

Hello there,

I’m back with the last part of the cards I created using Simon Says Stamp July 2018 Card Kit. These cards will focus on the pattern papers included in the kit. Here is what I came up with:

Here are some close-up photos for you:

11

I liked this pattern paper the best out of the bunch. I know I complained about them a bit, but I did enjoy the idea of the overhead shots that some of them had.

11 inside

This stamp perplexed me a bit at first and I didn’t think I’d use it, but it really worked perfectly for beach and pool themed cards.

11 close12

Again, I liked the overhead shot so I did this card similar to the first one and just let the paper shine.

12 inside

I saved that extra strip from the first card and added a mini beach scene to the inside of this one.

12 close13

Adding those sequins as scales on the fish was one of the first ideas I came up with for this kit and I’m really pleased with how it worked out. It really gives a lot of shine to the card.

13 inside

I went to my Cricut and used it to write out this fishy inside sentiment, then added a few more stamped fish to finish it off. As I mention in the video, it takes a little longer but there are some great ABC stamp sets out there that you can use to write out specific sentiments for your card. Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABCs is my favorite.

13 close14

I again used my Cricut to cut out this drink and then turned it into a shaker (which moves but doesn’t really shake). It gave me the look I was going for though. If you don’t have a Cricut, there is a great martini shaker die and stamp set from MFT that would give you a similar look.

14 inside

I kept the inside super simple since the front was so detailed and finished it off with some washi and a leftover cardstock strip from one of my previous cards.

14 close15

For this last card, I used this pool patterned paper and another one of the cutouts as the sentiment. I used an embossing folder that mimicked a raft and added a pink bikini using one of the SSS dies from a card kit last summer.

15 inside

I again went pretty simple with the inside and just finished it off with the sunshine sentiment.

15 close

So this will finish up the cards using the July card kit and just in time because my August card kit arrived in the mail this week πŸ™‚ I’ll probably be a little later with that kit because of my moving but I’ll get it out to you as soon as I can and in the meantime I’ve got a few happy mail videos that I’ve already recorded and I’ll post those as soon as I can get the voiceovers done. Thanks, as always, for stopping by. xoxo, Sarah

10 Cards | 1 Kit – SSS July Card Kit (Part 2 of 3)

Hello there,

Sorry I’m a bit slower in getting these videos out. I settled on my new condo on Friday and I’ve been cleaning and packing and ahh it’s so overwhelming. I can’t wait to have everything done and be fully moved in but that won’t be until the middle of next month. It doesn’t help that my internet is incredibly slow right now for some reason and it’s taking over a day to upload to YouTube!

Anywho…for this set of cards I focused on using the stickers that were included and here is what I came up with:

Here are some close-ups of the finished cards:

6

I wasn’t sure what to do with these mini stickers and then when I saw that “you made my day” sentiment I thought, oh a calendar. I used my Cricut to create the grid, write in the numbers and a few events, and then cut a thin red circle to highlight one of the days.

6 inside

Sweet and simple. I think this would be great to use as a thank you card for a birthday or special trip you went on.

6 close7

Do you ever like the inside of your cards better than the outside? This happens to me every so often, so I just cut the halves apart and use the inside as a front panel. I really loved those rainbow stickers.

7 inside

I also really loved the script sentiments in the stickers – I could use a whole sticker pack of just those.

7 close8

I’m not sure about the background on this one. I liked the wooden panel paper but the colors were a bit crazy. I think it works, but it’s just a bit busier than what I usually do. Love the cacti stickers though πŸ™‚

8 inside

I can’t take credit for the inside sentiment – I found it on the internet, but I think it’s the perfect inside finish to the stuck on you stamp.

8 close9

I really love this card. It sort of came together by accident and once I had the idea, I had to do it.Β  I really love the upside down hearts for the seeds too.

9 inside

I added these watermelon stickers and a strip of the lime green to finish off the inside. I think I will write inside with my white gel pen and that will allow the white outline on the watermelon stickers to really pop.

9 close10

Aren’t those butterflies gorgeous?!? This card really speaks for itself. I love how the colors of the butterflies match the colors in the sentiment letters perfectly.

10 inside

And you know how happy I was to find this matching sentiment for the inside!

10 close

As always…thanks so much for stopping by to check out my cards. I hope I was able to give you some inspiration on using the sticker portion of this month’s card kit.

xoxo, Sarah

10 Cards | 1 Kit – SSS July Card Kit (Part 1 of 3)

Hi-ya!

Hope everyone is having a great week. I’ve been a bit delayed because I’m settling on my first condo soon and I’m beginning to pack things up. I’m really excited not to be a renter anymore, but I don’t know how I’ve accumulated so much stuff over the last 6 years! The paper (and just-craft-things-in-general) addiction is real my friends.

Well, yesterday I finally sat down to edit the film using the SSS July Card Kit and have part 1 to share with you today. As I mentioned in the video I struggled a bit with this kit. It was filled with lots of goodies but I didn’t feel like everything went together (and if you’ve been watching me for even a small amount of time – you know how I love when things match!) So this will be part 1 of 3 because what I ended up doing was creating 5 cards with the stamps, 5 with the papers, and 5 with the stickers and I mixed things together a bit where possible.

Without further ado:

Here are your close-ups:

1

This is the card that started all the stripes (well for this round – I did a card like this with the last kit too.) I’m just obsessed with the look of them.

1 inside

For the inside, I added that leftover strip and stamped the watermelon in black to echo the black from the sentiment on the front.

1 close

Prismacolors: 929, 922, 1030, 989, 912

2

I thought this stamp set was so much fun, I just loved all the images and the punny sentiments.Β I did a lot of paper piecing with the images and thought it gave a nice crisp look to match with stripes.

2 inside

I used my Cricut to write out the inside sentiment – the font style is called Rumors. If you don’t have a Cricut, Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABCs stamp set is really similar.

2 close3

I love using those mini wobblers – they are such fun cards to open and don’t get me started on those sunglasses. So cute! I paper pieced the pineapple again and added that lighter green popped up and slightly askew to give some added dimension.

3 inside

I still kept the inside really simple and just stamped that pineapple across the bottom.

3 close4

I wanted to try something different with the stripes on this one and went diagonally. I like how it created the space for the sentiment.

4 inside

I finished off the inside with another fish and a few bubbles.

4 close5

The flamingo is my favorite of this set. I love that die cut! I paper pieced it together like the cactus and pineapple. My flamingo colors might not be quite accurate but I thought that orange and pink were summery and go together so well.

5 inside

Again I finished off the inside by stamping and added a leftover yellow stripe with some thin washi over top.

5 close

As always, thanks for stopping by and checking out my cards! xoxo, Sarah

10 Cards 1 Kit

10 Cards | 1 Kit – Love From Lizi July 2018 Card Kit

Hello there,

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend! Mine was cards, cards, cards – I completed the planning, filming, editing, voiceover (and now blog post) all in one weekend which I think is a record for me! I was just having so much fun I didn’t want to stop. Lucky for me I don’t have to because my SSS July kit came in the mail yesterday, lol. I think I’ll wait until tomorrow to start devouring that one.

As you know I’ve been eyeing the Love From Lizi Kits for quite some time now and was thrilled when they invited me to be a guest designer this month. I really enjoyed using all the stuff in the kit and there is probably enough leftover to make 10 more cards. Here is the video of what I came up with:

Here are some stills of the finished cards:

1

The sand was such a great addition to the embellishment bag – it gave some fantastic texture to this scene. Isn’t that frog adorable?

1 inside

Ain’t that the truth?!? I am a beach girl and very much looking forward to my trip to Myrtle Beach this October!

1 close2

This card is my favorite. I LOVE that background stamp and was really pleased with how the coloring turned out.

2 inside

I love a punny sentiment.

2 close

Zig Colors: 69, 21; 75, 72, 64; 94, 900, 901; 42, 49

3

So cute! I love those little guys and the dimension of the decoupage is fantastic. I added the little wooden ship wheel under the puppy’s paws to make it look like he is steering.

3 inside

I used Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABC’s to spell out “you and me” so the full sentiment reads “By the sea, you and me.” I thought the font matched the thinner portion of the sentiment on the front really well.

3 close4

The photos don’t do this paper justice – it’s super sparkly and just gorgeous. I had originally planned to have 3 cones with the sentiment, but that background paper was so busy I decided on adding just one. I added some white cardstock behind that pink ice cream die cut to make it a strawberry/vanilla swirl.

4 inside

I used an old paper pumpkin stamp set to add this “Happy Birthday” sentiment and then added in some slots for a gift card.

4 close5

I was so disappointed when I saw the sand had shifted in front of those seashells. I thought I had figured it out!! Stay tuned, I’m going to sit down with this again and see if I can come up with a fix for you.

5 inside

Again, I love that punny sentiment and how about that gorgeous starfish paper? It was my favorite of the kit!

5 close6

This guy is too fun. I thought that frog was just adorable so I used him on quite a few cards. Here I’ve got him floating in the pool using a mini wobbler.

6 inside

Yes, indeed it is.

6 close7

This is my second favorite card of the kit. It took quite a bit of time to make but it was well worth it to have those doors open to reveal that lounging frog!

7 inside

Since the front was so detailed, I kept the inside super simple.

7 close8

This card will probably go to my niece – she loves the beach just as much as I do and will love all those little guys chilling in their beach chairs.

8 inside

Love that cat sleeping along the border there.

8 close9

This is a tie with the earlier stamped background card as my favorite. I love the subtle stamping for the beach and couldn’t be happier with how my ‘waves’ turned out.

9 inside

Since I used the Lawn Fawn Mermaid ink to dye the texture paste, I decided to continue that color on the inside.

9 close10

Again with the frogs – just too cute. I will probably send this to my nephew, I think He’ll get a kick out of them.

10 inside

Love that little guy splashing down in the inner-tube.

10 close

This kit is already sold out, but you can still get the decoupage pages and a few of the other items on the Love From Lizzie website. I’ve linked what is available for you below.

As always, thanks for stopping by to check out my cards. Let me know which was your favorite in the comments!

10 Cards 1 Kit

10 Cards | 1 Kit – SSS Mother’s Day Card Kit ( Part 2 of 2) Wedding Cards

Hi there,

As promised, I’m back with part 2 of my 10 Cards, 1 Kit using the Simon Says Stamp special edition Mother’s Day Card Kit. For this second half, I’ve created 5 wedding themed cards since it is that time of year and the papers in the kit worked really for those too. Here is what I came up with:

Here are some close-ups of the finished cards:

1

I kept all of these cards fairly simple, but I love simple. That knot to echo the sentiment is just really sweet.

1 inside

And this is the perfect sentiment for inside a wedding card – at least I think so.

1 close2

This was as complicated as it got for this batch of cards. I’ve been doing a lot more layering in my happy mail lately and I think it spilled over a bit here. It’s not my normal design, but I really love this card.

2 inside

That peachy keen ink was a perfect match for these pattern papers.

2 close3

Couldn’t you just die over that congratulations script? This stamp set is wedding themed but you can use this one stamp on so many cards and the size of it makes for a great simple card.

3 close

This would be really pretty to stamp on an envelope and add their last name in a fancy handwritten script.

3 inside4

Such an easy card. As you know I am in love with everything Maggie Holmes – I was really excited to get both these hearts from the chasing dreams collection and the stickers from the flourish collection – yes, more please.

4 inside

This is why I always hang on to scraps, I only had a small stripe of that floral patterned paper left after the Mother’s Day cards but was able to use it on several cards.

4 close5

You know how I love a shaker card. I think this is such a great card to give because the new couple can take off the shaker and add it to the photo album if they’d like.

5 inside

Again that script is fantastic in or outside a card.

5 close

Thanks so much for stopping by today to check out my cards. xoxo, Sarah
